THE 12 TOUCHSTONES

Be Demanding, Be Supportive, Be Intentional

Authors Bryan Goodwin and Elizabeth Ross Hubbell have collaborated their expertise and research to develop a meta-checklist in order to condense and balance the crucial aspects of a great and effective teacher; the ability to be demanding, supportive, and intentional. Their text, The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching served as the basis in our coursework in OTL 502, as well as the foundation and inspiration of this website. Goodwin and Hubbell have combined the 12 Touchstones in 3 classifications: 1. Demanding 2. Supportive and 3. Intentional.  Utilizing their checklist aligns all of the components together and when applied daily in the classroom it can greatly impact educators and students performance and experiences.
